This is Angry Bean here today reviewing the Melitta Caffeo Barista TS.
Melittas are very good if you don’t want a traditional machine. If you are too lazy to do it yourself.
So, the Melitta has basically got the three sections across the top, lovely touch screen design. So we've got espresso, coffee, cappuccino, latte, milk foam, and then you’ve got hot water and you can do temperature. Compress the two button and then any of those and do two at the same time. Not one! Two!
So next you’ve got your amounts that you’ve got in the drink, so you’ve got like espresso buttons on this, for size up and down, like that. Or now we’ll change the amount in milliliters so you can change the amount of water going in the drink.
Next one is coffee, so you can make coffee stronger, or if you’re a wussy, you can make your coffee weaker as well. Obviously you can slide your finger up and down and change those settings. You can change the settings of your water while the machine is making the coffee, but you can’t change the coffee because it’s already ground, you stupid person.
So next you’ve got the bean selector. There are two hoppers in the back, you can have two different types of beans, so you can select beans from Brazil or I don’t like Brazil, I want more from Kenya, so you can get one from Kenya on the other side.
Next, you’ve got My Coffee. Now, it’s not My Coffee, it’s your coffee, so it really, it should be called “Yours,” but it’s called “My.” So, basically you have four different settings and if you’ve got more people in your family then you need to find some contraception or something because you can’t have that many people on this machine. Okay? So, you’ve just got four types of coffee. Again, you can make variations of a cappuccino, so you can have a cappuccino slightly stronger or slightly weaker. Then you can change the second one so maybe you’re a latte drinker, but you like your latte nice and strong so you can set up.
These are set one, two, three and four and this, a member of the family can come up, press the right coffee button, select the number that’s them, and it will make the coffee the way they like it. That way you don’t have lots of people coming in and changing the settings all the time when you’re trying to drink your drink, which can be quite annoying, because if you’ve got two latte drinkers, they might both have it set differently and then you’re forever changing the settings, so you don’t have to worry about that with this machine.
Making An Americano
Okay, I’m going to make an Americano. Americano, we’ve got our coffee amount here. We’ve got our water in here. You can see I can take this up or take it down. It’s adjusting the ratio accordingly, and the screen. Can’t change my coffee now because it’s stopped grinding. You can obviously do any small adjustments as well. So it’s the coffee comparing to the drink, now it’s going to mix it with just hot water. The idea is that it gives you much smoother coffee, slight different taste to a filter coffee with all the water it’s taking through the filter.
There we have it. Mm, delicious. As you can see, obviously because it’s an Americano, we still got the cream on the top and why you get unfiltered coffee.
Making A Latte Macchiatto
Press this latte macchiato, **** also. Decrease the strength, increase the strength pressing that button on the side. Just easing up now to make sure it’s nice and warm.
We’re grinding the coffee, let it run dry. The coffee will drop through the foam and the rest of it will be milk.
There we have layered latte, latte macchiato. It’s just telling me that it’s run out of water, it’s even telling me where it is, it’s so clever.
Okay, so **** clean. Normally after your milkcontainer, we pop it into there because we’ve got dirty milk in the system. It will come up easy clean, not doing it at the moment, the silly thing is asking for water. Okay, so what we do is pop it in there and then press yes. It will flush water through there, getting rid of these bits of milk, and it will also flush water through there.
Most of the machines don’t do that, so you end up with lots of horrible milk clogged in there for long periods of time and it goes off, and that’s obviously bad for taste and also bad for hygiene. So you don’t have to worry about that with the Melitta.
Then if a deeper cleaning needs doing, **** normally you’ve got lots of fiddling parts inside typical machines, not so with this one. Pop it off like that, and take that off like that, and take the other section off, clean that milk free that you can see there. Pop it back on, back onto the machine. Not easy to see when you’ve got a bean for head.
Okay. There we have it, all done.

Delicious coffee plays with astringency but never quite gets there. This is one of the richest coffees I have tried that has the balance right between richness and bitterness. It has a beautiful rich crema also. One of if not the best I have seen. It looks a good coffee straight from the pour. I drink it as an espresso or as a macchiato.
Bought Maxed Out blend
Really like this coffee. I found these guys through a friend and their coffees are great. They are really different but always delicious. You can see that someone is putting a lot of effort into making sure that there isnt one dud in the range. I reviewed this one as I normally drink single estate, but this one really is good.
Bought Garkys blend
If you told me coffee could have had a slight citrus nearly lemony taste I wouldn't have believed you until I tried this coffee. I wouldn't have thought such a taste could work but it does. I can honestly say I have never tasted a coffee like this and I do drink a lot of the stuff. It is now one of my favourites.
